Stedsutvikling i Nordland

Urban development is about creating cities and towns that are best for residents, visitors, newcomers, and businesses. Updated plans are an important tool. Equally important is finding a good foundation for joint efforts and cooperation.

Municipalities play a central role in urban development by offering good services, ensuring sound community development, and maintaining their role as planning authorities. One way for the county council to assist municipalities in this work is through guidance and planning advice in line with national and regional policies.

Collaboration and experience sharing

In the effort to assist municipalities, the county council collaborates with national actors such as the Competence Center for Rural Development (District Center), Design and Architecture Norway (Doga), the Urban Life Center, and the Forum for Urban Development.

Urban Space Seminar Nordland 2010 - 2019

From 2010 to 2019, the county council conducted a series of urban space seminars in collaboration with ten municipalities in Nordland. The aim of these seminars was to focus on themes and issues in planning, participation, and the design of built environments.

The seminars were held over two days, consisting of a seminar portion and a workshop using the host municipality's central area as a case study. In this context, a range of methods and tools were tested.
